What we do for all of them
The same four problems, in different clothes
- The list is wrong in a specific way
- Voter files disagree with each other. Membership systems disagree with themselves. Parcel data does not match a purchased mailing list. Most of the work is reconciling that before anything prints.
- The date cannot move
- Election day, a board meeting, a statutory notice period, a year-end appeal. Everything is scheduled backward from the date the mail must be in hands.
- Someone will ask what happened
- A candidate, a council, an auditor, a board, a donor. The mailing has to produce a record, not just a delivery.
- Postage is the biggest line
- And it is decided by data quality and presort, which is why list processing happens before quoting.
Documented work
Three problems, written up
Municipal Unit-Level List Reconstruction — an EDDM notice that reached the wrong city and missed apartment units. Cascade Priority Data Merge — ten lists already mailed when the strategy changed. CA08 District Demographic Profile — new district lines across five counties and one number that had to be defensible. Each is a data problem that arrived looking like a printing job.
How the verticals differ
Same floor, different rules
A campaign mailing and a public notice look identical coming off the inserter and are governed by completely different rules. Political mail can be dropped in phases to manage cash flow; a statutory notice cannot. A nonprofit appeal can suppress a lapsed donor to save postage; a Proposition 218 notice cannot suppress anybody. Commercial mail is measured by response; membership election mail is measured by whether it can survive a challenge. The production is shared. The judgement about what is permissible is not, and it is the part that is worth asking about before you order.
Working with us
What the first conversation covers
Three questions decide almost everything: when does it have to be in hands, roughly how many pieces, and what state is the list in. From those we can usually tell you the class, the presort you are likely to qualify for, whether the date is achievable, and what the postage will be within a reasonable band, before anyone builds a quote. If the honest answer is that the date does not work, you will hear that in the first conversation rather than the week before it mails.
Technology, briefly
What the named systems actually do
Blueprint prepares and optimizes the data before anything prints. Sentry is the camera verification that reads every finished piece against its record. Insight collects USPS scans piece by piece after entry. Assurance is the reconciled report at the end. They are named because they are separate systems doing separate jobs, not because a marketing department needed product names — and each one exists because a mailing failed once in a way that nobody could explain afterwards.
Getting a straight answer
What we will tell you before you commit
Whether the date is achievable. What the postage will be, within a band, before the artwork is final. Which presort the mailing is likely to qualify for and what would need to change to improve it. Whether the format you have designed will cost more than you expect. Those answers do not require a signed quote, and getting them wrong early is far more expensive than asking.
One connected workflow
Data to proof, inside one building
Most mailings cross three or four vendors. Every handoff is a place where a list changes, a piece goes missing, or nobody can say what actually happened. Plavidian keeps all six steps under one roof and one set of records.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does Plavidian only work with political campaigns?
No. Political mail is the most demanding vertical we serve and much of the workflow was built for it, but the same data processing, verification and postal preparation serve government, nonprofit, membership and commercial mailings.
Where does Plavidian produce?
In Vista, California, in North County San Diego. Printing, inserting, addressing, camera verification and USPS preparation all happen in one building.
Do you serve customers outside California?
Yes. Data and artwork move electronically and mail can be entered where it makes sense for the delivery area, so we produce for organizations nationwide.
What size organization do you work with?
From a city council campaign mailing 2,000 pieces to programs in the hundreds of thousands. The controls are the same; only the schedule changes.
Do you work through consultants and agencies?
Yes, including blind and white-label production. See consultants and print brokers.
Can we start with one job?
Yes, and most customers do.
