Data & Lists
The right list decides the campaign
The classic 40/40/20 rule of direct mail credits 40 percent of results to the list, 40 to the offer, and 20 to the creative. We license consumer, business, saturation, new mover, and specialty files for your project, pull counts before anything is committed, and run the licensed records through the same postage analysis, mapping, and camera-verified production as every Plavidian job.
List Types
Six ways to reach the audience
Consumer lists
National consumer files selected by geography plus demographics and lifestyle: age, income, homeownership, presence of children, interests, and dozens more. The workhorse for retail, home services, healthcare, and fundraising acquisition.
Business lists
Business-to-business files selected by industry (SIC/NAICS), employee count, sales volume, title, and geography. Reach owners and decision makers at the location that matters.
Saturation & occupant
Every deliverable address in a carrier route, ZIP, radius, or county, at the deepest USPS postage discounts of any list type. The efficient play for restaurants, trades, grand openings, and civic notices.
New mover lists
Households that just arrived, refreshed continuously and selectable by recency, home value, and income. New residents need furniture, services, doctors, and dinner, and they have not picked favorites yet.
Voter & political
Voter-file processing for district, precinct, and household targeting, with variable data by party, vote history, and issue priority. Handled under your campaign or committee's authority with state permissible-use rules respected. See political mail →
Specialty files
Ailment and lifestyle audiences, donors, ethnic and language selects, licensed professionals, and other compiled specialty files. If a commercial file exists for the audience, we can usually source and license it.
How It Works
Counts first. Records only when you approve.
1. Describe the audience
Geography plus the selects that define your prospect: a radius around the store, homeowners over a certain income, businesses in three NAICS codes, households in a district.
2. We pull counts
We run the selection through our data providers' count systems and report exactly how many records match. Counts are free, and no records move at this stage.
3. License for your project
Approve the count and the records are licensed for your mailing, one-time use by default, under our published Data License Terms. Multi-use licensing is available on request.
4. Straight into production
The list lands in the portal: CASS standardization, carrier-route matching, postage optimization with a distribution map, drop-ship planning, then print and mail with camera verification available.
The Difference
A list broker hands you a file. We hand you a plan.
Most list sellers stop at delivery. Here, the licensed records flow directly into Mailing Analysis, the same tool our customers use on their own lists: every address standardized and matched to a carrier route, postage priced from the official USPS rate table, duplicates flagged, a distribution map with a dot for every address, and an SCF drop-shipment plan. You see what the list actually costs to mail, and where it lands, before a single piece prints.

Handled Properly
Licensed data, treated like it matters
Established providers
Records come from established independent marketing-data providers compiling from public records and commercial sources, licensed per project under published terms.
Permissible use
Regulated categories such as DPPA-governed data are licensed only for certified permissible uses, and prohibited uses are spelled out in the license terms, not left to assumption.
Your list stays yours
Customer-uploaded lists are never sold, rented, or reused for anyone else's mailing. Licensed marketing data and your data live under different rules, both published. See the Privacy Policy.
Retained, then removed
Job data, including lists, is kept for five years after the job completes and then deleted, per the retention policy on our Security page.
Questions
Mailing list FAQs
What is a licensed mailing list?
A licensed mailing list is a set of names and addresses selected from a commercial data compilation and licensed for your mailing. You define the audience by geography and selects such as age, income, homeownership, or industry, we pull counts, and the matching records are licensed for your project.
What does one-time use mean?
By default, licensed records are for one mailing: printing and mailing your piece to the licensed addresses one time, with related processing such as address standardization, presort, and required documentation. Reuse, retention for other purposes, resale, and loading into other systems are not included. Multi-use licensing is available on request and quoted with your counts.
Where does the data come from?
We license records from established independent marketing-data providers that compile national consumer, business, occupant, and specialty files from public records and commercial sources. We select the provider and file for the audience you describe, and every license is governed by our published Third-Party Marketing Data License Terms.
How do list counts work?
You describe the audience and geography, and we run counts through our providers' count and selection systems. Counts are free and carry no obligation. No records move until you approve the count and the license for your project.
Will you sell or reuse my own customer list?
No. Lists you upload for your own jobs are used to produce your mailing and for nothing else. They are never sold, rented, licensed, or used for another customer's project, and they are deleted under our published retention policy.
Do you handle voter files?
Yes. We process voter files for district, precinct, and household targeting on political jobs every cycle. Voter data carries state-specific permissible-use rules, so it is handled under the acquiring campaign or committee's authority with processing on our side. More on political mail.
What happens to the list after I license it?
The licensed records flow into the same pipeline as any Plavidian mailing: CASS address standardization, carrier-route and ZIP+4 matching, postage optimization with a distribution map, drop-shipment planning, and production. On camera-verified jobs, every piece is read and reconciled to the list. Job data is retained for five years after completion, then deleted.
