Orange County, California
Direct mail across Orange County's 34 cities
Plavidian, a print and mail production company in Vista, California, plans Orange County mailings ZIP code by ZIP code. USPS labeling lists assign the county's 926 and 927 ZIP codes to SCF SANTA ANA CA 926, its 928 ZIP codes to SCF ANAHEIM CA 928, and the 906 and 907 ZIP codes of its northwest cities to Industry and Los Angeles labels. Each plan starts from who lives in those ZIP codes, which carrier routes serve them and where each part of the mail enters USPS.
Before you mail Orange County
- 1,077,623 households in 88 ZIP code areas (Census ACS)
- 926 and 927 ZIP codes sort to SCF Santa Ana, 928 to SCF Anaheim
- 37% of households have incomes of $150,000 or more
- 146,958 private business establishments (BLS, 2024)
- Plavidian Insight™ included with every mailing
How does USPS sort mail addressed to Orange County?
By ZIP code prefix, under two main sectional center facility labels: SCF SANTA ANA CA 926 for ZIP codes starting 926 and 927, and SCF ANAHEIM CA 928 for ZIP codes starting 928. A northwest edge sorts elsewhere, its 906 ZIP codes to SCF INDUSTRY CA 917 and its 907 ZIP codes to SCF LOS ANGELES CA 900, so a county-wide mailing is planned from the ZIP codes it reaches, not from the county line.
Because the split follows ZIP prefixes rather than city limits, Plavidian builds the postage and entry plan from the ZIP codes before the job is quoted: each part is entered at Plavidian's origin business mail entry unit or drop-shipped to the destination SCF for its label.
USPS entry
USPS sorting labels for Orange County ZIP codes
Every Orange County prefix sorts letters and flats to the same SCF label, so the size of the piece never changes the destination; the mix of prefixes does. ZIP codes labeled SCF SANTA ANA CA 926 hold about 62% of the county's households, SCF ANAHEIM CA 928 about 29%, and the 906 and 907 ZIP codes labeled SCF INDUSTRY CA 917 and SCF LOS ANGELES CA 900 about 9%. A mailing to Irvine, Santa Ana and Mission Viejo stays under one label, adding Fullerton brings in a second and adding Buena Park a third. San Diego County, where the plant is, has one label for all of its 919, 920 and 921 ZIP codes: SCF SAN DIEGO CA 920.
| ZIP codes starting | Letters sort to | Flats sort to | ADC |

What changes when the mail goes to Orange County
Orange County's 34 cities, dense ZIP codes, high incomes, business count and renter share each change how a mailing there is built.
- 34 cities, few unincorporated residents
- Orange County has 34 incorporated cities, and only 4.2% of its 3,163,696 residents live outside them (California Department of Finance, January 1, 2026). No single city dominates: Anaheim, Irvine and Santa Ana are each home to about 10% of the county's residents. With nearly every resident inside a city, a version of the mailer for each city is a natural split, and the Mailing List Builder counts by city as well as by ZIP code.
- Dense neighborhoods
- Across their ZIP codes, Huntington Beach averages 2,642 households per square mile, Santa Ana 2,482, Anaheim 2,303 and Irvine 1,565, against 868 in Vista and 856 in Oceanside in North County San Diego (Census ACS). A given piece count therefore covers about a third as much ground around a Huntington Beach storefront as it would around one in Vista, so a radius can be drawn tighter.
- High incomes, unevenly spread
- 37% of Orange County households have incomes of $150,000 or more; San Diego County is at 32% and Los Angeles County at 27%. The median household income is $68,697 in Santa Ana's 92701 and $192,083 in Irvine's 92603, so a premium offer needs an income select on an addressed list or a careful choice of ZIP codes; EDDM cannot select by income.
- More businesses per resident
- Orange County had 146,958 private business establishments in 2024 (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages), 46.5 for every 1,000 residents, against 39.2 in San Diego County, 34.1 in San Bernardino County and 33.9 in Riverside County. For a company that sells to other companies, EDDM routes can include business deliveries, such as the 2,392 on the 23 routes of Irvine's 92614, and Plavidian can supply a business mailing list through licensed data providers.
- Renters in the three largest cities
- 44% of Orange County households rent, and renters are the majority in the ZIP codes of the three largest cities: 56% in Irvine, 54% in Anaheim and 51% in Santa Ana. Mission Viejo's ZIP codes are 77% owner-occupied. A remodel, solar or listing offer aimed at Irvine, Anaheim or Santa Ana belongs on an addressed list filtered to owners, while in Mission Viejo EDDM loses far fewer pieces to renters.
The county in three parts, by USPS label
USPS labels divide Orange County into the north county, the larger central, coastal and south county, and a small northwest edge, and each part has its own household mix.
North county: 928, SCF Anaheim
Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia, Yorba Linda, Brea and Garden Grove. Anaheim's seven ZIP codes hold 110,114 households, with median household incomes from $74,588 in 92804 to $148,697 in 92808, a spread wide enough to justify two versions of an offer inside one city.
See Anaheim Carrier RoutesCentral, coastal and south county: 926 and 927, SCF Santa Ana
Santa Ana, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest and San Clemente. Santa Ana leans toward families, with children in 42% of households against 33% county-wide, while householders are older on the coast and in the south: 29% are 65 or over in Huntington Beach and 33% in Mission Viejo, against 26% county-wide.
Count Irvine HouseholdsNorthwest edge: 906 and 907
Five cities, La Habra, Buena Park, La Palma, Cypress and Stanton, use 906 ZIP codes under the SCF INDUSTRY CA 917 label, and Los Alamitos and Seal Beach use 907 under SCF LOS ANGELES CA 900. Their Los Angeles County neighbors share those labels: La Mirada and Whittier are 906 ZIP codes too, and Long Beach's 908 ZIP codes sort to the same Los Angeles label, so a mailing from Buena Park into La Mirada, or from Seal Beach into Long Beach, stays under one label.
Count Buena Park HouseholdsHouseholds by ZIP code
Ten ZIP codes, five cities, different households
Owner share swings more inside Anaheim than across the five cities in this table: from 36% owner-occupied in 92801 to 80% in 92807, against a city range of 44% in Irvine to 77% in Mission Viejo. Households with children run from 19% in Irvine's 92612 to 49% in Santa Ana's 92701, so build the audience ZIP by ZIP, not only by city.

Should an Orange County business mail EDDM or an addressed list?
Use Every Door Direct Mail when every household on the chosen carrier routes is a prospect, such as the blocks around a restaurant in Huntington Beach's dense ZIP codes, and an addressed list when only some qualify, such as owners in renter-majority Irvine. Plavidian mails EDDM on its own permit through the business mail entry unit, with a 200-piece minimum and flat-size pieces such as an 8.5x11 flyer; a 4x6, 6x9 or 6x11 postcard is not an EDDM piece.
Because Plavidian enters EDDM through the business mail entry unit, the Retail EDDM limit of 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day does not apply, which matters in a ZIP code like Irvine's 92618 with 31,125 residential deliveries. EDDM cannot select by homeownership, income, age or name, so in Irvine, where 56% of households rent, an owner offer mailed by EDDM reaches more renters than owners.
Carrier routes
Carrier routes in the same ten ZIP codes
EDDM selects whole carrier routes, and the USPS counts show whom each route reaches. Business deliveries vary the most across these ten ZIP codes: Santa Ana's 92705 has 4,317 on its 40 routes, while Irvine's 92620 has 354 on 27. Mail a consumer offer to residential addresses only where the business count is high, and keep the businesses in when they are the audience.

Mailed from Vista to Orange County
From the plant at 2210 E Vista Way it is about 48 miles by road to Mission Viejo, 55 to Irvine and 73 to Anaheim on the fastest route without traffic, but an Orange County mailing never needs the drive. Lists and artwork arrive through your Plavidian account, proofs are approved there, and Plavidian enters the mail with USPS; print-only pieces such as door hangers are shipped to you. Will-call pickup and an in-person proof review in Vista are available if you want them.
The Mail Date Planner works backward from the day you want the mail in Orange County homes, and its window depends on the mail class and on whether each part enters at origin or is drop-shipped to its SCF. Order cutoffs are 9:00 AM Pacific for a 2-day rush on certain products, up to a set quantity, and 12:00 PM Pacific for every other turnaround; production starts after proof approval, and USPS transit is a planning window, not a promise. Turnaround times lists the production windows.
Printing can be paid by card. USPS postage is paid by check or wire transfer, never by card, and no mail is released to USPS until the full postage has been received in cleared funds.
Local direct mail planning
Planning a mailing to Orange County?
From the first household count to the USPS scans, each step opens the tool that does it, and the audience step starts on Orange County.
Define the market
Start from any of the county's 34 cities, its ZIP codes, a radius or a drawn shape, then filter by owner or renter, income, age or children; the owner filter does the most work in renter-majority Irvine, Anaheim and Santa Ana. Counts are Census figures bundled into Plavidian's system rather than a live feed, and combined filters are labeled estimates.
Build an Orange County AudienceCompare approaches
An owner-only offer in a county where 44% of households rent usually belongs on a list, while a restaurant mailing every home around it suits EDDM. Answer a few questions about your offer and audience to see which fits.
Decide Between EDDM and a ListEstimate the mailing
Price printing, mailing services and postage together for your piece and quantity. A mailing that reaches several of the county's four SCF labels can enter each at origin or by drop shipment, and the cost calculator and the EDDM Route Builder both show how entry changes the postage.

Plavidian's plant in Vista prepares and addresses the mail to the Plavidian Standard™ and mails it on Plavidian's own permits. Each prefix's share enters at Plavidian's origin business mail entry unit or goes by drop shipment to its SCF, as the entry plan for the job sets out.
Follow the mail
Plavidian Insight, included with every Plavidian mailing, reports the USPS scans on every part of it, whichever SCF label each part sorted to, as the pieces move toward Orange County homes. Scans show progress through the mailstream, not proof of delivery.

Questions
Questions about direct mail in Orange County
Does an Orange County business need to be near Vista to work with Plavidian?
No. Lists, artwork and proof approvals go through your Plavidian account, and Plavidian enters the mail with USPS, so an Irvine business 55 miles away by road works with Plavidian the same way as one in Vista. Plavidian mails on its own USPS permits, so you do not need a permit of your own.
Does all Orange County mail sort to SCF Santa Ana?
No. Under the USPS labeling lists effective June 27, 2026, ZIP codes starting 926 and 927 sort to SCF SANTA ANA CA 926, 928 ZIP codes to SCF ANAHEIM CA 928, 906 ZIP codes such as Buena Park and La Habra to SCF INDUSTRY CA 917, and 907 ZIP codes in Los Alamitos and Seal Beach to SCF LOS ANGELES CA 900.
The labels name USPS sorting destinations, not street addresses, and Plavidian decides origin entry or a drop shipment for each one when it plans the job.
How do I mail only homeowners in Orange County?
Use an addressed mailing list with an owner select. EDDM reaches every residential address on a carrier route, owners and renters alike, and 44% of Orange County households rent.
Can Plavidian mail to businesses in Orange County?
Yes. Plavidian can supply a business mailing list through licensed data providers, CASS-process and deduplicate a list you already have, or include business deliveries on EDDM carrier routes. Orange County had 146,958 private business establishments in 2024, per the BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages.
What does an Orange County mailing cost?
The cost is printing, mailing services and USPS postage, plus the list for an addressed mailing. Postage depends on the mail class, the sortation and where the mail enters, and a mailing that spans the Santa Ana, Anaheim, Industry and Los Angeles labels gets an entry decision for each. The Direct Mail Cost Calculator estimates printing, mailing services and postage for your piece and quantity, and a custom quote prices the list, any drop-ship freight and the actual job.
Can I track or verify an Orange County mailing?
Yes. Every Plavidian mailing includes Plavidian Insight at no separate charge: it follows each piece by its Intelligent Mail barcode through USPS scans, whether its part entered at origin or at a destination SCF, and shows delivery counts, a day-by-day curve and a delivery map. Scans show mailstream visibility, not proof of delivery, and camera verification with Plavidian Sentry™ is an optional add-on for letter-size mail.
Complete scan data is not guaranteed for every piece.
Does Plavidian produce campaign mail for Orange County races?
Yes. Campaign and ballot measure mail has its own page, Orange County political mail; this page covers businesses and organizations mailing to Orange County homes and companies.
