Temecula and Murrieta form an owner and family market: across the five ZIP codes, 71% of households own their home and 42% have children, and owners outnumber renters everywhere except 92590. Two things change how a mailing here is built: USPS sorts letters and flats for these 925 ZIP codes to different sectional centers, and 101 of the 131 carrier routes are rural routes, including every route in Murrieta's 92562 and 92563. Where Temecula and Murrieta households are
Four of the five ZIP codes are large and owner-majority, and they differ by degree rather than kind. 92592 leads on owner share (79%), households with children (44%) and median income ($132,475), while 92591 is the least owner-heavy of the four at 60%. Their median home values all fall between $615,700 and $664,000, so if a piece runs in versions by ZIP code, split them by owner share or income, not home value. 92590 is the exception on nearly every measure: 1,949 households at 36 per square mile, 34% owner-occupied, the lowest median income of the five and the highest median home value, $1,201,400.

The Census figures average survey responses from 2019 to 2023, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas do not follow city limits. Both cities grew in the latest state estimate (Temecula 0.8% and Murrieta 0.3% in the year to January 1, 2026), and USPS now counts more residential deliveries than the Census counts households in all five ZIP codes, most of all in 92591: 16,574 against 13,891. Size an EDDM drop from the route table below, not from this one.

EDDM reaches all five ZIP codes, mostly on rural routes
USPS returned carrier routes for all five ZIP codes, so an EDDM drop can take any mix of routes in Temecula's 92590, 92591 and 92592 and Murrieta's 92562 and 92563. The rural figure beside a route count is a USPS route type, not a description of the land: every route in 92562 and 92563 is rural, the six in 92590 are all city routes, and 92591 mixes 12 city, 8 rural and 1 highway contract route. The Delivered from column matches the USPS city name on every route, Temecula for all 62 routes in 92590, 92591 and 92592 and Murrieta for all 69 in 92562 and 92563, so EDDM bundles entered at the delivery unit divide along the same line.

Letters and flats
Letter-size and flat-size pieces part ways at the sectional center
Shape decides the label. A letter-size piece, no more than 11-1/2 inches long, 6-1/8 inches high and 1/4 inch thick, sorts to SCF MORENO VALLEY CA 925 when it is addressed to one of these ZIP codes, and that covers a 4x6, 6x9 or 6x11 postcard as well as a letter mailed through Print + Insert. A piece past any of those limits, such as an 8.5x11 flyer, is a flat and sorts to SCF SN BERNARDINO CA 923. Every EDDM piece falls on the flat side, since EDDM at Plavidian takes only 6.5x9, 8.5x11 or 9x12 flats.
So one campaign can reach the same homes through two sectional centers. Pair an EDDM flat on the 92563 routes with a 6x11 postcard to 92563 homeowners: drop-shipped to the SCF, the flats travel under the San Bernardino label and the postcards under the Moreno Valley label, which can mean two different facilities. Entered at the delivery units instead, the EDDM bundles skip the SCF and go to the unit that delivers each route.

Route types and density
Rural routes, dense streets: reading the Murrieta route list
USPS runs 101 of the 131 routes here as rural routes, among them all 36 in 92562 and all 33 in 92563. Yet 92563 has the most households per square mile of the five ZIP codes, 1,016, ahead of 92591 at 807, where city routes are the majority. In this market a rural route is a way USPS organizes delivery, not a sign of scattered homes, so do not pass over a route because USPS calls it rural: in Murrieta there is no other kind.
Density varies far more than route type suggests. 92562 holds nearly as many households as 92563, 21,365 against 22,989, spread over about five times the land, at 194 per square mile; 92592 averages 226. A radius drawn around a storefront can therefore take in far more homes in 92563 than the same radius in 92562 or 92592, so count the circle in the Mailing List Builder before settling on the miles, and size an EDDM drop from the residential and business counts on each route.
Business deliveries
92590: nearly as many business deliveries as homes
92590 holds a third of the market's business deliveries. USPS lists 2,251 there beside 2,265 residential ones, the most business deliveries of the five ZIP codes, while 92592 has just 659 beside 26,045 residential ones.
A homes-only EDDM mailing gets little from 92590, whose 2,265 residential deliveries are the fewest of the five ZIP codes. An offer meant for businesses, such as office catering or a commercial service, starts in 92590 with business deliveries switched on, and 92562 comes next with 1,894.
Elsewhere the choice barely changes the size of a drop: adding business deliveries to a whole-ZIP EDDM mailing in 92592 adds 659 pieces to 26,045. For a household offer, whether to leave businesses off is a real question mainly in 92590 and, to a lesser degree, in 92562, where they add about 8%.
Owners, families and older households
Where EDDM finds owners and families, and where a list has to
Against Riverside County's ZIP codes as a whole, these five lean toward families and higher incomes: 42% of households have children against 38% county-wide, 36% have incomes of $150,000 or more against 25%, and householders 65 or older head 23% of households against 27%, all in the same Census survey. Owner share is closer, 71% here and 69% for the county.
For an owner offer, the ZIP code decides the method. In 92592, 92563 and 92562, 70% to 79% of households own, so every-door mail for HVAC replacement, a remodel, landscaping or a home valuation reaches mostly owners. In 92591, where 4 in 10 households rent, and 92590, where two in three do, an addressed list selected for homeowners does the targeting that EDDM cannot.
Family offers have the widest base: children live in 39% to 44% of households in each of the four large ZIP codes, which suits a family dental practice or a youth program sent by EDDM. Offers for older households have the thinnest: 92563 has the lowest share of householders 65 or older, 20%, and no ZIP code here passes 25%, so invitations from a senior living community put more of their pieces in the right homes on a list selected by householder age than on every route.
From the Vista plant
27 to 32 miles from the plant by road, on different USPS labels
By road, Plavidian's plant on East Vista Way is 27 miles from Temecula and 32 from Murrieta, both closer than the city of San Diego at 35 miles; Corona is 61 miles away and the city of Riverside 64. For printed pieces that never enter the mail, such as door hangers and yard signs, that makes free will-call pickup in Vista a realistic choice next to shipping, and you can come to the plant to check a proof in person before production starts.
The mileage says nothing about how the mail travels. Mailed pieces either enter the mailstream at Plavidian's origin business mail entry unit or are drop-shipped to the destination SCF or delivery units, and from there the timing is USPS's, so plan in-home dates with the Mail Date Planner rather than from the drive.

Mail for Vista's own ZIP codes sorts to SCF SAN DIEGO CA 920 in both shapes, so however short the drive from the plant, Temecula and Murrieta mail does not sort with San Diego County's.
