Banners own the biggest surfaces a campaign or business ever touches: the wall behind the podium, the fence along a parade route, the storefront announcement that has to be legible from across the street. Where a postcard or sign works at arm's length or from a passing car, a banner is built to command a whole space at once and hold up outdoors while it does it. That scale is exactly why the two decisions that matter most are made before anyone opens a design file — how big the letters need to be, and how the piece will attach to the world.

The material under all of it is 13oz scrim vinyl, the outdoor standard: a woven substrate laminated on both faces with a matte, low-glare finish that photographs and reads cleanly in direct sun. It takes a folded, sewn hem on every edge, which is what lets a grommet hold under load instead of tearing out of a raw cut. Grommets go in at the corners and every couple of feet down each hem, giving you tie points for zip ties, rope, or bungees. For fences, open frames, and anywhere the wind gets under a banner, half-moon wind slits let gusts pass through the panel rather than turning it into a sail — cheap insurance on an exposed install.

Sizing is the part people get wrong, and it is worth getting right because it is the difference between a banner that works and one that is just decoration. The rule of thumb is about one inch of letter height for every ten feet of viewing distance: a headline read from across a wide street or the back of a parking lot needs far taller type than the same words behind a podium ten feet from the camera. We recommend designing from where the piece will actually be read — the crowd, the road, the far bleachers — rather than from the size of the wall it happens to hang on, and keeping the message short and high-contrast so it survives being seen fast, at an angle, in bright light.

Art for large format is its own discipline. Because a banner is viewed from a distance, it can be built from files at lower effective resolution than a business card, but it still needs to be laid out at scale with generous margins so nothing critical lands where a hem folds or a grommet punches through. We preflight every banner for bleed, safe margins around the grommet line, and contrast, and we flag type that is too small or too fine to read at the intended distance before it goes to print — a problem that is invisible on a laptop and obvious at 40 feet.

The run itself is straightforward and self-contained: we print the panel, hem all four edges, set the grommets to match your mounting, cut any requested wind slits, then inspect the piece and roll it for shipment or set it aside flat for will-call. Because banners are frequently ordered alongside a campaign's mail, signs, and door hangers, we can color-match the banner to the rest of the program so the name and look are consistent from the mailbox to the podium — and release everything together on the date you need it in hand.
