How addressed pieces end up in the trash

Bulk addressing without piece-level verification has no way to check each piece as it runs and no way to divert a bad piece off the line. When a piece is misfed, double-fed, jammed, skipped, or printed poorly, the failure goes undetected. The count shows the job was addressed, but a percentage of those pieces never make it into the mail stream and end up in the trash.

An add-on for letter-size mail: Cognex machine-vision cameras read each piece as it runs and verify it against the job's expected list. Anything that does not read cleanly, or does not match, is diverted automatically for controlled recovery and reprint.
